About Yusuke Hashimoto

Yusuke Hashimoto, M.D., is a University of Florida associate professor of medicine and a gastroenterologist at UF Health Jacksonville. He received his medical degree from Tokushima University in Tokushima, Japan and his graduate degree from Tokyo Medical and Dental Univerisity in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Hashimoto completed his internal medicine residency at Asahi General Hospital in Chiba, Japan; a gastroenterology fellowship at Showa University Fujigaoka Hospital in Kanagawa, Japan; a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California: a fellowship in gastrointestinal and endoscopy and oncology in Chiba, Japan.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the Japanese craftsman tradition of passing knowledge, skills, and experience from one generation to the next. This is based on the idea of the proverb” Ishi Soden” I believe that education is more than simply teaching a procedure or sharing knowledge; it is about carrying forward clinical judgment, technical expertise, and professional responsibility. The trainees we teach today will care for patients we may never meet. By investing in their growth, we can improve the care of future patients and help shape the future of medicine. My goal is to teach not only how to perform advanced endoscopic procedures, but also how to think critically, make thoughtful clinical decisions, and ultimately pass those lessons on to the next generation.
