About Hussam F Hawamdeh
Hussam Hawamdeh, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine-Division of Cardiology.
Dr. Hawamdeh completed medical school at the University of Jordan, after which he followed his passion in humanitarian work: he offered medical care from civilian war survivors in Jordan who were transferred across borders from regional conflict zones. During that experience he provided care for a patient in cardiogenic shock due to severe aortic valve stenosis, an experience that shaped his career and inspired him to pursue advanced training in the US to become a structural interventional cardiologist. He completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine training at the University of Florida – Gainesville. Afterwards he completed advanced training in Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Interventions at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, followed by a year of Structural Cardiology and Advanced Mechanical Device Support training also at the University of Kentucky. After completion of his training, Dr. Hawamdeh practiced in Arkansas where he established a structural cardiology program, as well as a cardiogenic shock program.
