About Muhammad Ali Syed

Hello, my name is Muhammad Ali Syed, M.B.B.S. (M.D.), and I am currently serving as an Associate Professor of Medicine. I am board certified in both Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine, and my clinical interests include insomnia, sleep related breathing disorder and parasomnia.

My journey in medicine began with a childhood dream inspired by my father, a renowned cardiologist. My ultimate goal is to improve my patients’ quality of life through better sleep health. I would like my patients to know that I enjoy educating and empowering them with knowledge about their own health.

During my Sleep Medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, I was selected as the Chief Sleep Medicine fellow. I was also selected to serve on the ABIM Sleep Medicine Item-Writing Task Force term until June 30, 2025, and on the ABIM Sleep Medicine Approval Committee term until June 30, 2028. I was named a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and had the honor of being selected as the reviewer of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM). I was recently selected to represent Sleep Medicine at ACGME Internal Medicine/Specialties review committee for next 6 years. In 2025, I was awarded a fellowship by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

In my free time, I like to learn about world history, watch travel shows and aviation documentaries, and stay informed about global news.
