About Muhammad Ali Syed

Muhammad Ali Syed, MD, is a University of Florida associate professor of medicine and a sleep medicine physician at UF Health Jacksonville. He is board certified in internal medicine and sleep medicine, with clinical interests that include insomnia, sleep-related breathing disorder and parasomnia.

Dr. Syed’s journey in medicine began with a childhood dream inspired by his father, who is a renowned cardiologist. Dr. Syed’s goal is to improve his patient’s quality of life through better sleep health. He enjoys educating and empowering patients with knowledge about their own health.

During his sleep medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Syed was selected as the chief sleep medicine fellow. He was also selected to serve on the ABIM Sleep Medicine Item-Writing Task Force term until June 30, 2025, and on the ABIM Sleep Medicine Approval Committee term until June 30, 2028.

Dr. Syed was named a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and had the honor of being selected as the reviewer of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. He was recently selected to represent sleep medicine at ACGME Internal Medicine/Specialties review committee until 2031. In 2025, he was awarded a fellowship by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

In his free time, Dr. Syed likes to learn about world history, watch travel shows and aviation documentaries, and stay informed about global news.
