Angiolillo, M.D., Ph.D., FACC Chief At the division of cardiology in the department of medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, our internationally recognized faculty are leaders in cardiac care, research and education. Patient Care The division provides services across Northeast Florida, including at the UF Health Cardiovascular Center, which has the region's only fully integrated, comprehensive heart programs and the resources of an academic medical center. The center's programs include the Coronary Interventional Program, Nuclear Program, Electrophysiology Program, Non-Invasive Program and Peripheral Interventional Program. More About Patient Care Services Education We share our wealth of knowledge and experience through three ACGME-accredited fellowship training programs in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. The division is also involved in the department's internal medicine residency program and medical student education elective clerkship courses for third- and fourth-year medical students. We are leaders in the field of research, being the first to bring many new devices and technologies to the North Florida/South Georgia area. Our division is committed to fostering faculty and fellow research which can be broken down into three categories — clinical, basic science and cardiovascular imaging. Clinical research includes sponsored and faculty-initiated clinical trials. UF physicians are currently involved in the development of new treatment modalities for heart failure and novel electrophysiology techniques, as well as intramyocardial delivery of gene and stem cell therapy to promote myogenesis and angiogenesis, to name a few. Basic science research is occurring in the areas of platelet function and progenitor cells. The Cardiovascular Research Program within the division is comprised of a group of dedicated health care professionals whose main goal is to provide higher quality patient care to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in our society.
