Program Director Welcome to the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program within the division of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism in the department of medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. This program is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, or ACGME. Endocrinologists are uniquely trained and dedicate their lives to promote the health of many afflicted by obesity, diabetes, hypertension and osteoporosis. This fellowship program is devoted to physicians who seek to fulfill this challenge through formal training. The educational purpose of the endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism fellowship is to provide ACGME-accredited, broad-based instruction and experience to fellows in the evaluation and management of the vast array of diseases encountered in the subspecialty of endocrinology. The fellowship consists of clinical training for two years with integration of pertinent research in the field. Fellows are expected to broaden their knowledge in endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition, to apply and appraise information in the diagnosis and management of the varied types of health issues encountered and to combine new investigative skills in related disciplines. The scope and structure of the program are designed to fulfill requirements for board eligibility in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism as described in the AMA Graduate Medical Education Directory.
