Welcome to the adult Infectious Disease Fellowship Program with the division of infectious diseases in the department of medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. This two-year program is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, or ACGME and offers outstanding clinical training.

UF Health Jacksonville is the primary site for the general infectious diseases consultation experience during the two years of training. In the first year, fellows spend two months learning clinical microbiology at two local laboratory sites, each providing a unique experience. Fellows attend the inpatient infectious disease consultation service, are members of the Hospital Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship committees at UF Health Jacksonville and have supervised continuity clinics in HIV care at the UF Health infectious disease outpatient clinics.

During the second year of training, in addition to the infectious disease consultative service at UF Health Jacksonville, the fellow delves more deeply into clinical infectious diseases with rotations at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville on a busy solid organ transplantation service, Wolfson Children’s Hospital consulting in pediatric infectious diseases and UF Health Jacksonville as the infectious diseases consultant to the MICU team. The fellow has continued membership on the UF Health Jacksonville Infection Control and Antimicriobial Stewardship Committees and completes the Infectious Diseases Society’s Hospital Infection Control Course. Approximately 20 percent of each year's rotations are devoted to research and scholarly activity.

Our division outpatient infectious disease clinics provide a rich diversity of outpatient clinical resources for our fellows with experience in HIV/AIDS care, travel medicine, hepatitis B and C management, as well as general infectious diseases outpatient consultation.

In addition to medical grand rounds and core conferences available through the department of medicine, the division of infectious disease has a continuing active schedule of conferences including core topics, board reviews, case conferences, TB, research, transplantation and med-peds infectious disease conferences.

Please explore our site further for detailed information on our fellowship and division. If you have additional questions, please contact us. Thank you for your interest in our program.
